Many people think that the recent decline in the EUR/USD is correlating to the decline in the GBP/USD. I don’t like to correlate these two markets. Simply because the Euro is declining does not mean that we should be short the Sterling.

The sterling had recently formed a double bottom and as it began to move upwards off of the 2nd bottom, it was able to push through its previous resistance, paving its way for a large run up over the next few days.

The USD/CHF is still struggling as the dollar continues to remain strong against the Swiss Franc. However, we are entering a support zone where we previously saw a change of polarity so this market could continue to hold.

As the dollar index has continued to show strength over the short term, it reminds us eerily of 2008. As long as the European issues continue to weigh down the euro, we will continue to see the dollar above 77 which may cause concern in other markets such as gold.
