Tony Peterson
The Intentional Trader

Tony Peterson was not supposed to be involved in trading. Everything about his most obvious characteristics and abilities proved that he was somebody that was supposed to build things. And for 20 years, he did just that as a residential contractor. Little did he know that he had another calling that was counter to everything he and everybody he knew had expected.

An acquaintance introduced Tony to day trading in 2000, and with that the hook was set. He knew that he was just smart enough to figure out how to trade profitably. How hard could it be, right? No coaches, training, or studying for this guy. Everything he had ever done he had excelled at. Why would trading be any different?

7 years later after having attended and been elected valedictorian of his class at the ”TRADING SCHOOL OF HARD KNOCKS AND HEARTACHE”, Tony was about to give up on something for the first time in his life after having exhausted 2, and almost 3, well funded trading accounts.

After having examined his trading career and trying to figure out what he was doing wrong, he hit on a few ideas that had always served him well while running his construction business. He put these ideas in place and decided if it did not work, then trading had finally beaten him into submission. It was a do or die proposition to completely retool his trading, but more importantly, his mental attitude towards trading.

With this new, retooled trading approach, Tony joined up with a few trading friends and shared screens during the trading day. As time went on, the friends stopped doing what they were doing and began to watch Tony trade and excel at it. The amount was not impressive, but the consistency was. These friends invited more friends to sit into their informal “Trading Room” and learn to trade. Everybody that saw Tony was a different kind of trader and wanted to know how he did it. That is how Tony became an trading educator. It was not a choice he would have seen himself making for a career, but one that he was apparently well suited for.

Tony’s real life experiences have prepared him to understand what other struggling traders have gone through. He recalls all too well what the term “Gut Wrenching” means when applied to trading. He is well versed in the feelings associated with being a losing or struggling trader and what it takes to turn those negative feelings into positive experiences.

The informal trade room was opened to the public when the small informal room could no longer accommodate the people that wanted to learn what Tony had done to turn is trading around. This new, public trading room is now known as The Intentional Trader trade room at The Intentional Trader . As more people began requesting more information about the steps he took to go from a struggling trader to a more consistent one, Tony developed the TradeRx Trading Skills Development Program. This is a step-by-step goal oriented program that makes each participant accountable to someone besides themselves for the decisions that they make during the trading day. Some have even called it a day traders “boot camp”. He likes to refer to his program as “The Other 80%” referring to what is NOT being taught to new or struggling traders by other programs.

Currently, Tony spends his days moderating, teaching, and trading in his trade room as well as mentoring TradeRx participants and developing new indicators for NinjaTrader 7.
