As I coach more and more and more traders, it becomes more and more and more obvious that our psyches are fractal just like the market is. We use the markets to recreate constellations or palettes or menus of feelings that recreate experiences and feelings we had when we were younger.
But it even gets more amazing than that - we become kind of a one-man/woman play where we play multiple roles. For example, someone might create a fabulous trading plan, decide to follow it and then rebel against it... what is happening there...(Hint - you have the first two characters in the play).
The solution is two-fold:
- Become aware of your own one-man band.
-
Put all of the feelings of all of the instruments into words - so they are at your conscious level.
- Never forget to manage to this - your true psychological capital.... because anything else just becomes acting. (Yes I know that is three - and yes I know that sounds like I mixed my metaphors...

Futures, options, and spot currency trading have large potential risk and traders should be well-educated before putting real money at risk. You must be aware of the risks and willing to accept them in order to invest in all markets. Risk capital is money that can be lost without jeopardizing ones financial security or life style. Only risk capital should be used for trading and only those with sufficient risk capital should consider trading. Past performance is not necessarily indicative of future results.
